With Google+, the internet giant is making its next attempt to get a foothold into the social networking game. After Orkut, Wave and Buzz, this could be considered their fourth try already.
The currently invitation only service is functionally and optically quite similar to Facebook. Which is not particularly surprising: despite its size, Facebook is a good product in terms of function and user interface (with some isolated exceptions such as the confusing option jungle).
The stream is more or less mandatory and forms the central focus. (see also Marcel Weiss’ post on the social web pattern).
