TechCrunch has taken an in depth look at Etsy and its future potential. Particularly interesting is their visualization of the business data.
The monthly revenues from 2008 – 2010:
Especially revealing in the monthly revenue graph is that the sales after December 2009 appear to remain relatively constant.
Not surprising is that Support and Engineering are the main components of the Etsy team:

"Etsy is an engineering and support-driven company, 90% of the people are either building the platform or supporting buyers and sellers. To put a fine point on this, Etsy has more people dedicated to its community (12) than it does to marketing (8)."
Somewhat disappointing in the Techcrunch post is the analysis. It is a fairly routine analysis which does not in any way consider the very conscious strategic adjustments (“How Social Can Commerce Get?”) which Etsy has been implementing since December (“Etsy Returning To Its Roots”).
Etsy has recently received another $20 million, which will be partially used to pay out early investors.
