Editor's note: the original German language blog post from earlier this week has been commented by Jana Eggers.
How often can a VC financed startup miss its targets? The investors had surprising patience with Spreadshirt CEO Jana Eggers. The CFO had already been swapped last year. Now Jana Eggers has announced her own departure:
“I will be leaving Spreadshirt. I will remain as CEO for a transition period, and our Supervisory Board will immediately begin an international search for a new CEO.”
It has been an amazing and rewarding experience to serve on Spreadshirt’s Management Board for the past 4 years, and as CEO for over 3 years, as the company nearly doubled in size.
Spreadshirt remained in 2008 and 2009 partly but significantly beneath their growth targets and needed to lay off employees in 2009. At the beginning of August, Spreadshirt held an extraordinary general meeting. Shortly beforehand, a portrait of the company was published in the Süddeutschen Zeitung. While Jana Eggers leaves the company, ex-Tesco manager Philip Rooke has been promoted to the management board.
Last November Exciting Commerce had the opportunity to interview Jana Eggers.
