Even if the first two days weren’t lacking of highlights, the third day at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in New York was by wide margin the most exciting.
Besides the E-Commerce Panel which was interesting on its own, the music panel (with the managers from Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga) as well as the political panel on the topic of social change showed the violent transformation that the social web is bringing and how much those who can operate in this environment can benefit from it.
Also a worthwhile view, the “Getting it built” panel.
At the startup battle, the best impression was made by the non-US contenders. German music startup UJam was overtaken by the Israeli startup Soluto who took the top honors.
All in all, New York made an outstanding impression as a startup metropolis.
Boris Wertz has summarized his impressions of New York as a tech environment on his blog (“Why New York will challenge the Valley for Consumer Internet supremacy”), after his one month investigation there.
