Magento Matters: The Rapid Rise of a Shopping System

Magento wants to become the ultimate e-commerce platform. Therefore we will be bringing you the most exciting Magento developments on a regular basis under the heading of “Magento Matters”.

Magento expert Roman Zenner last week summarized the second 9-month Magento period since the launch in April 2008 (“The State of Magento”):

"At the beginning of the year it was all about spreading the word: Here’s a brandnew ecommerce platform, offering unprecedented flexibility and ready to take on the big guys of the industry (...)

Magento’s outlook, for now and the future, will be debated in front of sold-out audiences at the Meet Magento #2 conference to be held on November 2nd in Frankfurt. The conference program will be held in the German language.

Even now, Magento is less seen as an e-commerce platform than as an alternative shop system. One of the hotly discussed topics has therefore always been: For what kind of customer is Magento appropriate? Noteworthy in this context is the breakdown analysis from Daniel Nitz, e-commerce consultant from Netz98 (“The Specialist for Individual Requirements”) (GE/EN).
