eBay Germany’s Wow! “deal of the day” sales campaigns have generated just over 10 million euro in the first 6 months. August was so far the second strongest month with 2 million euro changing hands:
- 60 merchants have participated until now and have generated an average daily demand of 55,000 euro.
- The most prominent merchant has been Medion, generating a total of 833,000 euro across 13 different offers - that is, a good 64,000 euro per day.
- A designer radio calibrated weather station (by Thierry Mugler) captured the most sold title on August 18th by selling 11,329 units on that day. At the same time, the sale price of 9.90 euro is up till now the lowest priced item. The highest priced article over the first 6 month period was 179 euro.
- The highest revenue from a single day was 354,000 euro and was made with a TerraTec Noxon iRadio on June 17.
- In June, the until now strongest month, there were in total 6 days with over 150,000 euro, of which 3 days made over 250,000 euro revenue.
- The median price point of the first 6 months lies at 45 euro. From the offer point of view, the median sale price of 48 euro indicates that very accurate planning is necessary.
- In the last week, eBay Germany raised the number of daily offers from one to two.
In comparison internationally, the German Wow! campaign is performing pretty well. eBay USA can in the best case move 6,000 to 7,000 items within a few hours, according to CEO John Donahoe. To note however, in the US four offers run per day in parallel.
What is speaking for or against eBay’s live shopping strategy? That is just one of the many topics to be covered in the Live Shopping Days 2010 conference in Berlin (in German).
