Gifting and collecting remain the most exciting fields for social shopping (apps) – at least until a clear market leader in these areas crystallizes.
The “Demo Pit” of the TechCrunch50 Conference on Monday saw two interesting attempts for next generation social shopping sites presented by gift services Apprema und MyFavz.
Both sites have heavily borrowed mechanisms from Facebook & Co. – and focus particularly on the (socially driven) gift giving processes.
Apprema ("The Ultimate Way to Gift”) goes with a platform strategy and offers a slew of methods for individuals or groups to express their generosity.
We recommend you to check out in particular the Innovations area of the Gifting 2.0 Section.
MyFavz ("Gifting Reinvented") supports features for selecting the perfect gift. Amongst other things, recipients can be anonymously asked what they most want to receive.
A very “social” and “viral” application, despite or even due to the fact that much communication runs over regular email.
